Speaker: Chris Hamrick, MS, CPE

Topic: "Ergonomics and the Aging Work Force"

Abstract: By 2010, the number of workers aged 44-64 will increase by 52%. The effects of this aging workforce will be dramatic. This presentation will describe pertinent physical and cognitive changes that occur as part of the aging process. It will also discuss some design strategies that ergonomists can employ to retain and use the skills of this valuable segment of the workforce.

Speaker's Bio: Chris Hamrick is Senior Ergonomist with ESIS, Inc. -- Global Risk Control. Prior to joining ESIS, he was the Ergonomics Technical Advisor for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Division of Safety & Hygiene; the Director of Ergonomic Services for CNA Risk Management in Chicago, IL ; and an Industrial Engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Mines (now NIOSH) in Pittsburgh.

Chris holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering from The Ohio State University and he is a Certified Professional Ergonomist.
