The Effects of Real-time Imaging Technology on Data Gathering and Analysis:
The Case of Emergency Management Decision Making.

Abstract:
In recent years there has been an increased emphasis in improving both the quality and the quantity of information given to first responders during a crisis. One approach that has been proposed is to provide remotely located senior-level decision makers with real-time imaging of the area of interest via an unmanned airborne platform. The goal of the present research is to determine the impact of this new data channel on the data gathering, integration, and analysis activities as well as the decision making process in the context of emergency management missions.
