The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Student Chapter at The Ohio State University visited the Universal Design Exhibit at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center (27 Oct. 2009).

Did you know... that Universal Design and Human Factors Engineering are closely aligned: The intent of universal design is to simplify life for everyone by making products, communications, and the built environment more usable by as many people as possible at little or no extra cost. Universal design benefits people of all ages and abilities And, human factors engineering is about design and evaluation of tasks, jobs, products, environments and systems in order to make them compatible with the needs, abilities and limitations of people.

Elevated dishwasher.

Shelving that is easily pulled down to provide access to some using a wheelchair.

Universal design bathroom - roll-in shower, which has features (built-in seat, adjustable height shower head, grab bars) that make it useful to variously-abled users.

Time: Leaving OSU @ 3:30 PM to arrive at Molly Caren (London, OH) by 4:00 PM.
Host: Dr. Meg Teaford, Faculty member in the OSU School of Allied Medical Professions (SAMP)
