What: Speaker from University of Cincinatti Title: Health and Safety Intervention for Prevention of Musculoskeletal and Stress Disorders Description: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and stress disorders (SD) are two major issues in terms of economic and health burdens in organizations. Both protective and risk effects of extensive number of physical and non-physical work characteristics jointly affect MSD and SD. This research analyzes protective and risk effects of workplace on workers and proposes an algorithm to identify the improvement areas in the workplace to reduce the prevalence of MSD and SD. Who: Setenay Tuncel-Kara, M.S., is a doctoral candidate in industrial engineering at the University of Cincinnati. When: 5:00 PM on 25th Wednesday 2007 Where: 210 Baker Systems Short Bio: She received her B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Istanbul Technical University (1994) and her M.S. from Bogazici University (1997). She worked in Procter and Gamble and DuPont before pursuing doctoral study. Her current research interest is in the area of occupational health and safety engineering and she is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers. |
